PRENATAL VITAMINS AND THEIR SIDE EFFECTS
Prenatal vitamins are specially produced for the pregnant woman. These are very beneficial before the pregnancy, during the pregnancy and after the pregnancy. Prenatal vitamins have many benefits but they also have some risk involved with the dosage or length period of taking vitamins. The side effects are rarely reported but can be found in some women.

The side effects are mostly with aches, annoyances and pains.
The prenatal vitamin contains OMEGA-3 fatty acids due to which unusual bleeding or staining can take place. Signs of reaction including rashes, inching, swelling, hives and breathing difficulty are seen in some women.
Overdose of Prenatal vitamins is very dangerous and the quantity should be according to the doctor’s advice. With overdose of prenatal vitamins the signs of seizures, dizziness and vomiting occur. If you think, it is due to overdose of prenatal vitamin, then it needs immediate attention by healthcare provider. The doctor can treat by giving some medications or pumping the stomach.
Taking too much iron is also dangerous. Signs of iron poisoning are i) Blue lips & finger tips ii) low blood pressure, iii) High heart rate, iv) nausea v) vomiting, vi) fever, vii) chills, viii) dehydration, ix) low blood sugar. All these symptoms of side effect disappear when you adjust the dose of prenatal vitamins. If you miss one dose, take it when you remember to keep the plan followed as instructed. Do not double your doses with a view to overcome one missed dose effect. If the side effect persists, seek doctor’s advice who may change the dosage or supplement.
Prenatal vitamins are more beneficial as compare to harmfulness but it’s the carelessness or self-medication that makes it complex. Parental Vitamins help to reduce the risk in children. It also helps in reducing the risk of miscarriage. Prenatal vitamins reduce the risk of low weight birth. Prenatal vitamins are the best way to avoid defected child birth.
